Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was shocked and disappointed after the referees ejected Draymond Green late in the second quarter of Game 1 against the Memphis Grizzlies.
With just a little over a minute left in the second frame, Green was called for a Flagrant 2 foul for grabbing Brandon Clarke on the jersey while he was airborne. It was certainly quite a dangerous play and unnecessary, but its “excessiveness” is debatable given Dray's actions after the foul and the rather soft fall.
Even Curry himself and the Warriors thought it would be a Flagrant 1 at the most.
“That's f****ng crazy,” Curry told the referees following the call, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Steve Ker, Stephen Curry and some of their teammates were also seen talking to the referees after the call, seemingly arguing why they believe that the Flagrant 2 decision was uncalled for and wrong. Unfortunately, the Dubs couldn't do anything about it.

For his part, Draymond Green went bonkers after the controversial call. He made sure to get the Warriors fans in the building cheering as well as he headed to the locker room.
Green's ejection is the Warriors' best defender, so losing him is always a big blow to them. He did pretty well in limiting Nikola Jokic in the first round, and hopes were high he could do the same against Ja Morant and the Grizzlies. However, he was denied that chance with the questionable decision.
