Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr verified the rumors that the team has interest in signing Andrew Bogut to fill their last roster spot.

Kerr answered questions on the benefits of having a defensive-minded center, knowing that reporters wanted the scoop on the Bogut situation. While he didn't confirm that the team would definitely be signing the big man, he did say that the team is in contact with the former Warriors big man.

Bogut played for the Warriors for four seasons after being traded from the Milwaukee Bucks. He won one championship with the Dubs in the 2014-15 season.

Bogut played the role of an interior intimidator, providing a formidable last line of defense. During the championship season, he averaged 6.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks.

It's clear that the big Aussie's best days are behind him. He last played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers and didn't make much of an impact on either side of the floor in 23 games.

Clearly, the Warriors still see some potential in him. Additionally, the team does lack a defense-first center that has been present on every single one of there championship runs. From Bogut to Zaza Pachulia to JaVale McGee, each Golden State squad has had a player that is more of a defensive enforcer than an offensive threat.

The Warriors best interior defender this season has been Kevin Durant, who recently blocked a career-high seven shots against the Sacramento Kings. If the Dubs sign Bogut, they hope the move will take a little defensive pressure off KD's shoulders.
