The Golden State Warriors were flat out dominated by the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night. It seems head coach Steve Kerr feels not even shooting guard Klay Thompson could have helped them.

Thompson missed the star-studded matchup due to knee soreness. According to Mark Medina of the Bay Area News Group, Steve Kerr doubts things would have been different even if he had played:

“Klay would’ve had to play a hell of a game to overcome all that.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Kerr's comments. Thompson is undoubtedly one of the best shooting guard in the league as well as the other half of the NBA's premier backcourt. However, it is far-fetched to assume that he would have been able to erase a 33-point deficit.

Although Thompson may not have been able to rescue the Warriors from this loss, there is no question that his absence was sorely missed. Not only was Golden State losing their second-best shooter, but they were also without their most elite perimeter defender. He would have been tasked with guarding point guard Kyrie Irving, who registered 19 points and 11 assists in just 30 minutes of action.

Regardless, Golden State's primary concern at the moment is getting Klay Thompson back to full health. The Warriors have done a solid job of securing a gap from the other teams as the first seed in the Western Conference. Their star power also affords them the luxury of resting a player of Thompson's caliber on any given night. However, things will not get any easier when they host the No. 2 seed Denver Nuggets on Friday.
