Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson has always been different. Surrounded on the court by flashy superstars like Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, Thompson is more on the quiet side. He goes to work and gets the job done, usually without making much noise.

So it comes as no surprise that he handles the stress of the playoffs a bit differently than most. On Sunday, he told reporters that he took some time at the beach and jumped into the ocean to clear his head.

But as usual, head coach Steve Kerr has his player's back. He's been there before, as he told 95.7 The Game on Tuesday.

“All the time,” Kerr said. “All summer long, in fact. I think the ocean is probably the best way to clear your mind. Being a southern California kid and growing up on the beach and spending a lot of time in the ocean, that made perfect sense. I know people joked about it and laughed about it because it's Klay, but it made perfect sense to me.”

Thompson wasn't quite himself in the first three games of the Warriors' first round match-up against the Los Angeles Clippers. He scored just 12 points in Games 1 and 3 and 17 points in Golden State's Game 2 loss.

But it looks like his time in the ocean helped Thompson get back on track. He was incredible in Game 4, scoring 32 points and helping lead the Warriors to a 3-1 series lead.

This season, the 29-year-old was named to his fifth consecutive All-Star team. He has been a key part of each of Golden State's three championship runs. In the regular season, he averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

The Warriors have a chance to win the series and move on to the second round of the playoffs on Wednesday night.

Game 5 begins at 10:30 P.M. EST.
