Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr couldn't help but poke fun at Klay Thompson after the injured guard proclaimed that the Dubs are in a championship or bust season.

On Tuesday, Thompson had a lengthy talk with reporters where he opened up about a variety of topics, from the Warriors' title aspirations to Jordan Poole's performance. When talking about their championship odds, the other half of the Splash Bros. didn't hold back.

“We are now a type of team where it's championship or bust, and that's a really cool position to be in, and not a lot of players get to experience that,” Thompson shared, per Mark Haynes of ClutchPoints.

Upon learning of Klay's proclamation, Kerr seemed to play it down. He also made sure to remind everyone that the 31-year-old has not played basketball in more than two years now.

“Sounds like a guy who hasn’t played in 2 1/2 years,” Kerr said before citing that Thompson can say whatever he wants, per Kerith Burke of NBC Sports.

For what it's worth though, the Warriors head coach understands where Klay Thompson is coming from. After all, he is a competitive guy who finds joy in playing basketball. Not to mention that there are high expectations on the team brought by the sharpshooter's imminent return to the basketball court.

“I don’t know of a guy who loves to play as much as he does,” Kerr furthered.

Thompson is expected to return this December, with reports claiming he could be back around the week of Christmas. Despite his absence, the Dubs have dominated the league and have actually started the 2021-22 season with a 16-2 record.

With Klay coming back, it seems only natural for everyone to expect they are in contention for a championship. But hey, who wants that extra pressure, right?
