The Golden State Warriors shocked Steve Kerr with their hustle and bustle in the rebounding department.

As always, Stephen Curry has been the focal point of the Warriors’ offense and the two-time NBA scoring champ never failed to deliver. He found a new backcourt mate in Jordan Poole and it is something that thrilled Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

However, neither the explosiveness of Stephen Curry nor the discovery of Poole that surprised Kerr in the Warriors’ strong start this season. Instead, it was the hard work from the big men inside that got the job done.

“The rebounding has kind of been a pleasant surprise to be honest with you,” Kerr said on the “Tolbert, Krueger and Brooks” show via NBC Sports. “Outrebounding both of those teams, it was great.”

Curry, a point guard, led all Warriors players in rebounds against the Los Angeles Clippers after grabbing 10 boards in 38 minutes of action.

While many were once again dazzled by Curry’s stat, Kerr reckoned that it was the effort of guys like Kevon Looney that certainly allowed the backcourts to grab the “long rebounds.”

“I think it's frankly an indication of playing veteran groups, [Kevon] Looney is just fantastic in there boxing out, he may not end up getting the rebound but he's taking out the guys who would be getting offensive boards, which allows Steph [Curry] and other guys to come in and grab the long rebounds, so I just feel like we've got a real veteran group,” he assessed.
