Even as the Chicago White Sox are currently looking up at the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central standings, former catcher A.J. Pierzynski believes that this can soon change.

During the White Sox’s home series against the Chicago Cubs, Pierzynski took some time to speak to NBC Sports Chicago at Guaranteed Rate Field. He called over owner Jerry Reinsdorf and proceeded to note that the team should end up winning the division by quite a wide margin this season.

“The White Sox should win the division by 20 games,” Pierzynski said.

Reinsdorf responded by noting that he “hopes” the longtime White Sox catcher will be right in his claim.

With such a noteworthy declaration, Pierzynski had to provide reasoning as to why he sees that Chicago should go on to steamroll the competition and clinch the AL Central with relative ease.

“You look at their roster, better than anyone team in the division,” Pierzynski said. “I’m not knocking the Twins. … 1-26, the White Sox roster is better constructed than anybody else in the division. And plus you look at their second half schedule … I wouldn't say tough at all.”

As it stands, the White Sox hold a 23-23 record and sit at five games behind the Minnesota Twins in the division. The reigning AL Central champions have picked up multiple crucial wins as of late, but the Twins have also secured keen victories as well, notching a 7-3 record in their last 10 contests.

With the recent injuries to the likes of Tim Anderson and Eloy Jimenez, Chicago sure will need multiple players on the roster to rise to the occasion in order to keep pace with the Twins.
