Chicago White Sox prospect Luis Robert has been tearing up the minor leagues as of late, and it would seem that the struggling White Sox would reward the youngster with a September call-up as MLB rosters expand for the final month.

However, former White Sox legend and MLB Hall of Fame slugger Frank Thomas said Chicago general manager Rick Hahn has said that a call-up is somewhat unlikely:

The White Sox quickly released a statement saying no decision has been made yet on Robert's call-up status.

Robert was ranked as the No. 45 prospect by MLB.com heading into this season, but he has quickly ascended the rankings as he has consistently mashed against opposing minor league pitchers. In fact, Robert has skyrocketed to the No. 5 spot in the current rankings.

The 22-year-old Cuban prospect first joined the White Sox organization in 2017 at the age of 19, and it has not taken him long to climb up the minor league ladder. Although Robert struggled during his first stint in High-A ball, he slashed an absurd .453/512/.920 with eight homers in just 19 games at that level this season and was immediately promoted to the Double-A affiliate in Birmingham.

After hitting .314 in 56 games with Birmingham, Robert was promoted to Triple-A, where he is slashing .301/.348/.645 with 15 homers in 43 games. In total, Robert has already hit 31 homers and is slashing .331/.380/.628 across three levels.

The White Sox have managed to remain respectable (60-73) in a top-heavy American League Central Division, but they have one of the best young cores in the game. With Yoan Moncada, Eloy Jimenez, Michael Kopech, Lucas Giolito, Dylan Cease and now Robert ready to contribute for years to come, the White Sox should compete sooner rather than later.
