Russell Westbrook put up another triple-double for the Washington Wizards on Monday, inching him closer to the all-time record. When asked about the possibility of breaking Oscar Robertson's triple-double record this season, Westbrook gave a perfect response, via The Athletic's Fred Katz.

During Washington's 132-124 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Monday, Westbrook compiled an impressive 35 points, 14 rebounds, and 21 assists with Bradley Beal sidelined. It was Westbrook's 162nd triple-double of his career, putting him just 20 away from breaking Robertson's all-time record of 181 triple-doubles.

While Westbrook is more than capable of achieving the record this season, the veteran point guard understands that the Wizards are fighting for a playoff spot. Even after Monday's win, Washington is the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference with a weak 17-28 record.

Triple-doubles aren't a rare sight for Westbrook as he's averaged a triple-double in three consecutive seasons before in his career from 2016-2019. The fearless point guard is also currently averaging a triple-double so far this season as he's notching 21.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 10.5 assists per game for the Wizards.

Washington has 27 games remaining on their schedule, giving Westbrook plenty of chances to surpass Robertson. At the same time, the Wizards have rested Westbrook on certain nights, which could prevent him from reaching the record this year.

But with Washington clawing and scratching in hopes to sneak into the playoffs in the coming months, it would be a surprise to see Westbrook rest any games. While Westbrook is focused on leading the Wizards to the postseason, it's inevitable that he is going to break the triple-double record, whether it be this season or the next.
