The Detroit Pistons play host to the Washington Wizards as both teams look to end long losing streaks. This game will continue our NBA odds series as we hand out a Wizards-Pistons prediction and pick. We will also let you know how to watch the game.

The Wizards are 2-14 to start this season, and they are on a nine-game losing streak. Washington has not been able to get anything going this season, but there are a few bright spots. Kyle Kuzma is averaging 22.9 points per game to go along with 5.9 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. He is second on the team in both rebounds and assists, but leads the team in scoring. Jordan Poole seems to be back in the last three games, even though it has not led to wins. On the season, he is averaging 17.7 points per game, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. After Poole, nobody on the team is averaging more than 12 points per game.

The Pistons are also 2-14, but their losing streak is a little bit longer as it has reached 13 games. Cade Cunningham is doing his best to lead the team, but he does not have a supporting cast. Cunningham is scoring 22.0 points per game while leading the team with 7.1 assists, as well. He is clearly an All-Star, but nobody else on the team scores more than 13.0 points per game. Jalen Duran is averaging a double-double, and Ausar Thompson is right behind him with 9.8 rebounds per game.

Why The Wizards Could Cover The Spread

Washington stinks on the defensive end of the court, but they can score a little bit. As mentioned earlier, Poole has been playing much better basketball. He is scoring 26.7 points per game to go along with just over 3.0 rebounds and assists. He is questionable for the game, but if he plays, the Wizards should feel confident about their chances to end their losing streak. Pair him with Kuzma who is averaging over 20 points per game on the season, the Wizards could finally get what they thought they would with Poole and Kuzma sharing a court.

One stat that jumps out at me for this game is free throws. Washington takes the third-fewest free throws per game in the NBA. Partly because they never have the lead at the end of the game, and partly because they just do not draw the fouls. However, teams shoot the most free throws per game against the Pistons. If the Wizards can knock down their free throws in this game, they will cover the spread.

Why The Pistons Could Cover The Spread

The Wizards can score a little bit, but the main reason for the losing streak is their lack of defense. During the nine games, the Wizards have allowed opponents to score 123.7 points per game. That number is actually lower than their season average of 125.1 points per game allowed. Needless to say, the Wizards are not good at defending. The Wizards allow opponents to shoot over 50 percent from the field, and 36.7 percent from three. The Pistons are going to get a chance to take plenty of shots in this game, they just have to make them. If Detroit knocks down their shots, they will cover the spread.

Final Wizards-Pistons Prediction & Pick

This game is going to be close. There are some fun players on both sides of the ball, even though neither record supports it. As for the winner of this game, it is tough. It just comes down to which team can actually get something going. I am going to take the Wizards as underdogs to cover this spread. They score a little more than the Pistons, and they should be able to come out on top.

Final Wizards-Pistons Prediction & Pick: Wizards +2.5 (-110), Under 236.5 (-110)
