The Washington Wizards have started the season 6-11, and there are rumors circulating that the front office isn’t opposed to trading point guard John Wall or shooting guard Bradley Beal.
Beal is younger than Wall, a much better player moving forward and has greater trade value. If the Wizards were to move Beal, they would likely require a huge haul in return for the 25-year-old sharpshooter.
According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, that's exactly the case at the moment:
I think what they’re asking for Beal, from what I’ve heard, makes him functionally not available. But maybe. Maybe some team throws the Brinks truck or their price comes down.
Bradley Beal signed a five-year, $127 million deal in 2016 with the Wizards. The former No. 3 overall pick is averaging 21.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists on the season while shooting 45.5 percent from the field, 33.1 percent from beyond the arc and 77.8 percent from the free-throw line.
The Wizards probably aren't going to have any luck trading John Wall. The five-time All-Star signed a $170 million contract that kicks in next season. Wall is one of the best point guards in the game, but he's not worth $40 million a season.
If the Wizards are looking to tear down the roster and rebuild with young assets, Bradley Beal will get them the best return. However, it looks like Washington's front office is getting greedy and asking for the world and then some for Beal in trade talks.
