Washington Wizards point guard John Wall can do a ton of exceptional things on the basketball court that it’s easy to overlook one area where he is very good at – blocking shots.

That part of Wall’s game was on full display for everyone to see Friday night, though. Caught in a defensive mismatch against Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon, Wall impressively stood his ground against the taller, heftier, and stronger Gordon, who wounded up getting his shot being batted away like a piñata by Wall.

As if seeing his own shot get blocked by a smaller man was not enough to deflate Aaron Gordon’s ego, Wall made sure that Gordon will think twice in the future before trying to plow him down at the post by giving him a mean staredown afterward. Gordon probably would have to swing by Disneyland just to feel better after that embarrassing play.

As for Wall, the dynamic point guard probably was just trying to set an example for his teammates. The Wizards were on the heels of back-to-back losses coming into the Orlando game. Fortunately for Wall and the Wizards, they avoided a three-game skid by taking down the Magic at home, 125-119.

Wall led the team with an all-around effort that produced 30 points, nine assists, and three blocks. Wall is averaging 19.5 points and 9.1 assists per game, but what’s surprising is that he also leads his team in blocks with 1.1 per contest – tied for best in the NBA among guards.

And by the way, Wall also scored his 10,000th point in this game.
