Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has gained more following after transitioning from the college game to the professional ranks, and her accomplishments so far has translated in sponsor support even before her WNBA regular season debut. Among her endorsements following her Iowa graduation include iconic sports drink brand Gatorade, and her first commercial was succinct and straightforward.
The debut commercial showed Clark in her element, putting up made shots in succession in an almost pitch-black gym with her individual accomplishments flashing on the screen. Ending the 30-second commercial were the two messages “Caitlin is just getting started” and “It is just getting started” flashing in succession.

Fans react to Caitlin Clark's debut Gatorade commercial

Fans on the social media network X, formerly Twitter, gave positive reactions to the commercial, which focused on Clark's basketball achievements so far.
“Sometimes simpler is better. Great copywriting. Cinematic. So tough all around,” said one poster. “This is basketball ASMR at its finest,” said another, referring to the soothing sound of the ball going straight through the net and the subsequent bounces during the entire commercial. “I would buy the soundtrack.”
“Loved this commercial! Nike and Gatorade should be pushing Caitlin Clark to the moon,” one fan commented, noting Clark's endorsement with the iconic sportswear and sports drink brands.
But with her debut game against the Connecticut Sun ending in a loss, Clark also gained critics for the ad, with a poster not yet buying into the Clark hype. “Man give it a rest. All the hype and advertising is overdone. She's a rookie and playing like a rookie. Give her some space,” said the commenter.
Caitlin Clark lives up to hype, but Fever lose WNBA season opener
Caitlin Clark, selected number one overall in the WNBA Draft, did not disappoint in her season debut with an impressive outing against the Connecticut Sun, but in a losing effort. Clark finished with 20 points on 5-for-15 shooting, including 4-for-11 from 3-point range, with three assists and two steals.
The Fever dropped their first game of the season on the road against the Sun, 92-71.
In her first game, Clark struggled off the bat and missed her first three shot attempts en route to a scoreless first quarter. She started gaining her bearings by the second quarter, scoring seven points but turning the ball over five times. Her first official WNBA basket was off a steal on the defensive end, then evading DeWanna Bonner in transition for an easy layup.
Sun forward Alyssa Thomas provided much of the tight defense on Clark that forced the rookie to cough up 10 turnovers. The total both set a league record for a debuting player, as well as a Fever franchise high. The pressure showed by Thomas exemplified the higher level of defense Clark will encounter throughout most of her debut season.
The Fever will have a chance to bounce back in their regular season home debut against the New York Liberty on Thursday, May 16, at 7:00 p.m. ET.
