WWE 2K22‘s cover athlete is Rey Mysterio, and the game's various editions have now been revealed by 2K Games.
After floating around on social media for a week, Rey Mysterio's fantastic WWE 2K22 cover has finally been officially revealed. The cruiserweight legend will feature in the game's showcase mode, chronicling Mysterio's wrestling journey from WCW to WWF and the WWE. Fans could expect to play through Mysterio's classic matches, such as his Halloween Havoc match with Eddie Guerrero, and their infamous “Custody for Dominik” match in SummerSlam. In a press conference, Mysterio says:
“Representing the culture of lucha libre as the cover Superstar for WWE 2K22 is a moment of great pride for me. I'm looking forward to sharing the stories behind the big moments of my career with a dedicated community of players and connecting with WWE fans in a whole new way as they play through my 2K Showcase.”
Along with the cover's announcement also came the reveals of the game's various editions as well as details about the game's DLC and season pass. Here are WWE 2K22‘s different versions:
- Standard Edition ($60 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, $70 on PS5, Xbox Series X)
- Cross-Gen Bundle ($80): Includes Standard Edition and Starrcade '96 Rey Mysterio Pack, and can be played across generations of the same console (e.g. PS4 and PS5)
- Deluxe Edition ($100): Includes Standard Edition, Undertaker Immortal Pack (Includes three Undertaker Personas, Evo cards, and additional Undertaker-related content), a season pass for all five post-launch DLC packs, MyRise Mega-Boost and SuperCharger Packs, WWE Supercard content for physical copies.
- nWo 4-Life Edition ($120): Includes content from Standard and Deluxe Editions, MyFaction EVO cards, alternate nWo attires for Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Syxx. Eric Bischoff is playable. WCW Souled Out 1997, Bash at the Beach 1996, and nWo Wolfpac Championship included.
What about pre-order bonuses? Pre-ordering the game will let you play as one of Undertaker's three additional Personas: Ministry of Darkness, Phantom Mask Undertaker, and Boneyard Match Undertaker, as well as access to the game three days early on March 8, 2022. The game comes out on retail on March 11, 2022.
