When Riddle took the WWE ring to face off against Roman Reigns, the odds of securing a win weren't particularly good.

Reigns was in the middle of a title run for the ages, and while his work schedule has contracted, considering he's quite literally beaten the majority of the WWE roster, there's a reason why many have pre-booked their tickets for WrestleMania 39 in sunny Los Angeles, California for a much-anticipated match between “The Tribal Chief” and his cousin, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: Reigns is borderline unstoppable.

And yet, with all of that in mind, Riddle gave it his all and delivered some pretty darn impressive moves to the former Shield member. He hit RKOs, sometimes out of nowhere, delivered blows, and recorded one particularly close near-fall that tricked the entire Target Center. Had Riddle not gotten too ahead of himself and fell to a surprise spear from Reigns, he very well may have pulled the contest out, but alas, it just wasn't meant to be – Roman got the pin, and Riddle's chances of challenging him for the Undisputed Universal Championship ever again have officially been dashed.

Reigns asked the assembled crowd for acknowledgment, and after they did, he prepared to return to his private island for more private islanding… at least until Brock Lesnar returned to the promotion to challenge Reigns for the title, again, for what feels like the 8,00th match between the two performers.

Sidebar: It's actually the 8th time they've wrestled for a championship, but hey, it feels like 8,000.

Will Lesnar be the man who wrestles the unified bet away from Roman Reigns and dashes the dreams of thousands of fans looking forward to WrestleMania 39? Fortunately, fans won't have to wait long to find out, as Summer Slam is just over a month away.
