Washington Nationals star Juan Soto has been at the center of trade talks for some time now. And now New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge has spoken out about possibly playing alongside Soto.
Soto, a two-time All-Star, is among the game's brightest young players. As he and the Nationals have failed to come to terms on a new contract, he could soon find himself on the move.
On the heels of these potential trade rumors, Aaron Judge was asked about his thoughts on Juan Soto. Specifically, if Soto could help a team get over the hump and win a World Series.
“Juan’s a special player. He’s a special talent all around. I could sit here and talk about everything he does on the field, but he’s also a leader, too, at such a young age.”
Aaron Judge then went on to say how it could be fun to see Soto play in New York.
“I would hate to see him go to a team we got to play, you know, down the stretch. It would be fun to see him be in New York, or be wherever he wants to be.”
Soto, at just 23 years old, has already begun to put together a strong career. His dominance at the plate has set him apart from many of the game's other young players. Through this point in the season, Juan Soto already has 78 hits, 20 home runs, 43 RBI, and 57 total runs.
A potential lineup consisting of Soto and Judge would be terrifying for opposing pitchers. Judge has already put together an MVP campaign this season. He has 96 hits, 33 home runs, 70 RBI, and 74 runs. He has also played a vital role in the Yankee's success up to this point.
While Soto’s future is still up in the air with the Nationals, a move to New York could be interesting. Juan Soto has already won a World Series and is an elite player. Putting him in the New York Market could make for some exciting baseball.
