When it rains it pours for the New York Yankees. That's certainly how it feels on the injury front at least. After losing half of their bullpen to the IL, the Yankees will now have to stomach the loss of one of their most important sluggers. Ahead of Wednesday's clash with the Orioles, the Yankees placed outfielder Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day Injured List with a calf strain, the team announced.
ROSTER MOVES, continued:
•Placed RHP Jonathan Loáisiga on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to 5/23) with right shoulder inflammation.
•Placed DH/OF Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured list with a right calf strain.
•Designated C Rob Brantly for assignment.(2/2)

Stanton is dealing with a right calf strain, which was revealed after he underwent an MRI on Tuesday. The slugger will hopefully not be sidelined for more than a couple of weeks, though the Yankees have yet to offer a timetable on his return.
The loss of Stanton will be a big blow for the Yankees, as he's been enjoying a tremendous season both offensively and defensively. Across 40 games, Stanton is slashing .285/.339/.523 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI. His .862 OPS ranks third on the team behind only Aaron Judge (1.079) and Anthony Rizzo (.867).
Stanton will now be joining the likes of Chad Green, Luis Gil, Aroldis Chapman, and Jonathan Loaisiga on the IL, all of whom have gone down with injuries in the past few weeks.
Stanton has struggled to stay healthy throughout his tenure with the Yankees. He featured in 158 games during his first year with the team, but has only played in more than 100 games in one season since then. The Yankees will look to maintain their hot start amid the myriad injuries they were dealt over the past week, though they will certainly feel the absence of Stanton in their lineup.
