OF Harrison Bader and SP Luis Severino are both currently dealing with injuries. The New York Yankees received fairly encouraging injury updates on both players on Saturday, per Bryan Hoch.

“Harrison Bader is with the team in New York. He swung in a pool yesterday and will continue to do so today and tomorrow, according to Aaron Boone, who said that Bader could begin swinging in a cage and re-introduce a throwing program within the week,” Hoch wrote on Bader.

“Luis Severino resumed light throwing yesterday and had no issues. He tossed again today, beginning his build-up process,” Hoch also shared on Severino.

Severino was diagnosed with a lat injury late in spring training and was ultimately placed on the injured list. The Yankees also placed Bader on the IL as he continues to battle an oblique injury.

New York is hopeful that both Bader and Severino can return sooner rather than later. Both of their injury timelines, however, are unclear at the moment. The Yankees want to ensure that they are completely healthy before re-joining the team. Bringing them back too soon could lead to further injuries.

Yankees off to strong start in 2023

The Yankees won their Opening Day game against the San Francisco Giants. Aaron Judge homered on the first pitch he saw in the first inning, and Gerrit Cole turned in a terrific pitching pitching performance for the ball club.

The Yankees will look to continue to overcome their injury concerns on Saturday against the Giants. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 PM EST at Yankee Stadium.
