The New York Yankees hosted their rival, the Boston Red Sox, on Opening Day at Yankee Stadium Friday. Despite trailing for much of the game, the Yankees pulled out a comeback victory. A large part of that is thanks to the newest member of the team, Josh Donaldson.

With the game tied at 5 in the bottom of the 11th inning, Donaldson hit a walk-off single up the middle, sending Yankees fans home happy. It's quite the debut for the newest member of the Yankees. After the game, Donaldson spoke with the media to talk about the walk-off. He then detailed the former beef between he and Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole.

“I know I talked my shit about Gerrit last year, but we're boys now,” the Yankees third baseman said. “After that first inning I said I got him. What happened? I got him.”

Gerrit Cole got knocked around Friday by the Red Sox. He allowed three runs, all earned, on four hits and a walk in only four innings pitched. He also allowed a home run in the outing.

Last season, Donaldson called out Cole after the sticky ball situation. The NY Post quoted Donaldson's thoughts on Cole and his use of sticky substances. “Is it coincidence that Gerrit Cole’s spin rate numbers went down (Thursday) after four minor-leaguers got suspended for 10 games?”

New York trailed three different times during Friday's game, but came back every time. Donaldson finished the day 2-6, including the game-winning hit. In the win, the Yankees got home runs from Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton.
