The New York Yankees announced that second baseman Gleyber Torres exited Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals with left hip tightness, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

With Aaron Judge's absence, Gleyber Torres has arguably been the Yankees' best offensive player. Losing him for any amount of time would be a significant blow.

Manager Aaron Boone said there are no tests scheduled for Torres at the moment. Aaron Boone said that Torres' hip is feeling better already, according to Max Goodman of NJ.com. Hopefully Torres can avoid going on the injured list, even if he does miss a couple of days.

Torres hit a two-run home run in the first inning of the game against the Royals, starting the scoring for the Yankees and helping them complete a three-game sweep with an 8-5 win. The win brings the Pinstripes to 53-47. They entered the day two games back of the Toronto Blue Jays for a Wild Card spot, and tied for last place in the American League East with the Boston Red Sox.

Aaron Judge did face off against Jonathan Loaisiga in a simulated game on Sunday. There has been no timetable provided on Judge, but it provides optimism that he can stand in and face pitching right now.

The Yankees are trying to keep pace in a tight race for a Wild Card spot in the American League. The offense has struggled mightily without Judge, so losing Torres for any significant time would change a lot for the team.
