Zack Snyder has responded to Barbie's joke about the “Snyder Cut” (aka Zack Snyder's Justice League).

A “pretty good” joke

During an interview for Men's Health, Snyder talked about Barbie. He revealed that he was aware of the joke about his Justice League and fanbase and even screened the film for friends.

“They (Warner Bros) gave us a heads-up,” Snyder revealed. “And he (Michael DeLuca) said, ‘Hey, there's a reference to Justice League in the movie. It's cool and whatever, I hope you guys understand, we think it's awesome.

“I thought [Barbie] was great,” Snyder revealed, “and I think the joke is pretty good.”

He also acknowledged that the joke was aimed more at his cult-like fanbase than himself.

The “Snyder Cut” movement came after the release of 2017's Justice League. Snyder was set to helm the film before Joss Whedon ultimately took over. It took nearly four years, but in 2021, Zack Snyder's Justice League, a four-hour cut of the film, was released on HBO Max.

While Snyder's time in the DCEU (now DCU) is over, he helped establish their cinematic universe. He directed Man of Steel, which is what began the whole franchise.

Zack Snyder got his start by directing Dawn of the Dead in 2004. He'd go on to direct 300, Watchmen, and Sucker Punch before Man of Steel. Since departing the DCEU, Snyder has created two more franchises, the Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon series.

Rebel Moon is Snyder's upcoming sci-fi space opera for Netflix. It's the first of a two-part series, with the second film coming out in 2024.
