The Philadelphia 76ers finally unloaded Ben Simmons in their blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets acquired Simmons, along with Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two first-round draft picks. Meanwhile, the Sixers got star James Harden and Paul Millsap. Regardless of who “won” the trade, the Sixers have the funniest fanbase without a doubt.
Maybe it was because they waited so long and had so much built-up anger and anticipation, but the memes just kept coming. Sixers fans didn't hold back, much like they acted all season, and fired shot after shot at Simmons on his way out the door.
Countless memes are circulating on social media, but here are my top ten memes following Ben Simmons' trade to the Nets.
Top 10 Sixers Goodbye Ben Simmons Memes
The first three memes require a bit of explanation if you aren't familiar with a popular promotional event that takes place at the Wells Fargo Center.
During every Sixers home game, there is an opportunity for fans to win free Wendy's items. Here's how The Wendy’s Frosty Freeze-Out works, according to the Sixers' promotional schedule.
“The day after an opposing player misses two consecutive free-throw attempts in the second half of a 76ers home game, fans can receive free menu items by mentioning the “Wendy’s Frosty Freeze-Out” at participating Philadelphia Tri-State area Wendy’s locations (no purchase necessary).”
This, Ben Simmons' inability to perform at the free-throw line and the Sixers vs Nets game on March 10 gave fans comedy gold.
10. Lookout Wendy's, Ben is coming back
Not even an hour after Simmons was traded, Sixers fans started finding ways to make fun of him. Of course, they went straight to “hack-a-Ben” the strategy opponents used against them last season. The Wendy's Frosty Department could be in trouble.

9. The rough life of a Wendy's employee
Thanks a lot, Ben. Wendy's employees are going to be overworked and underpaid after you cost the company thousands of dollars in free food. Just look at this poor worker.

8. Even Wendy's got in on the fun
The most iconic Frosty tweet came from the verified Wendy's account itself. It simply says “3.11.22?” accompanied by a mouth-watering Frosty GIF. They are ready for the wave of Philly fans.

7. The Nets can deal with him
Philadelphia said good riddance to Simmons and his baggage, he's Kevin Durant and the Nets' problem now.

6. “I love you…sike!”
Let's be real, Sixers fans never pretend to like players, but this meme from Barstool Philly is hilarious.

5. How did Drake and Trae Young get involved??
Trae Young is definitely taking credit for the Harden for Simmons trade, and it's extremely comical.

4. This jab at his love life
Molly Morrison made things personal with this tweet. Looks like James Harden is to Daryl Morey as Devin Booker is to Kendall Jenner. Ouch.

3. This hilarious edit of Simmons and Embiid
I audibly laughed at this edit on Whistle Sports, showing Embiid kicking Simmons out of Philadelphia.

2. Another one
There are so many edits of Embiid physically kicking Simmons out of the city. Check out this one from Barstool Sports.

1. Not much brotherly love from his former teammate
While most of the memes on this list came from Sixers fans, the best one came from none other than the big man Joel Embiid. He tweeted this iconic meme that originates back to 2020.
If you aren't familiar with the meme, it comes from an Instagram post from July of 2020 that says “I stopped by one of my biggest haters funeral today.” Embiid is nothing short of hilarious, his meme takes the cake.
