2022 NBA Free Agency is set to begin and many players are already narrowing down their options. However, Dennis Schroder is going to be a wild card this offseason. The veteran guard has been a fringe star at times during the course of his 10-year career. However, he is fresh off of an underwhelming season in Houston with the Rockets. Schroder is also not expected to re-sign with the Rockets. So where might Schroder end up this offseason?

Let's take a look at the 2 best destinations for Dennis Schroder.

2 best destinations for Dennis Schroder in 2022 NBA Free Agency

2. Phoenix Suns

At first glance, you may wonder why Phoenix would be a good destination for Dennis Schroder this offseason. After all, they have Chris Paul and Cameron Payne on the roster.

Schroder and the Suns make sense for a couple of reasons.

First off, Phoenix would benefit from the bench stability. They were deep last year but the consistency fell off towards the end of the season. Schroder is a proven NBA player who can carry the second unit. His offensive prowess and hustle on defense will provide a spark as well.

Signing with the Suns could appeal to Schroder as well. Sure, on the surface one may be led to believe that playing time would be an issue. But Chris Paul is in his late 30's and will be rested quite a bit during the regular season. This means Schroder would receive plenty of playing time behind Chris Paul.

Additionally, Schroder could operate as the team's Sixth Man. He features a strong combination of scoring and playmaking ability which would greatly benefit Phoenix.

In terms of a contract, the two sides could go in a couple of different directions. Schroder could ink a one-year deal with the Suns and rebuild his stock in Phoenix. After laboring last year, he could be in store for a big payday next offseason with a solid 2022-2023 campaign. On the other hand, Schroder could sign a multi-year deal this year and attempt to help Phoenix win championships over the next couple of seasons.

And if the Suns struggle at all, they might trade Chris Paul which would lead to a starting gig for Schroder.

In the end, I think a 1-2 year deal for Dennis Schroder with the Suns makes sense given potential cap space issues.

1. Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks? But what about Jrue Holiday!? Would Dennis Schroder desire to go to Milwaukee and be a backup for Holiday on the Bucks roster? After all, Holiday isn't going to receive a ton of rest like Chris Paul.

No. Dennis Schroder makes sense in Milwaukee for a different reason. The Bucks should sign him to be their starting shooting guard.

Grayson Allen is a fine player. But he is better-suited for a bench role. Schroder and Holiday would make for an exciting and talented backcourt. They both are playmakers who can score at a fairly high level. And with defenses focusing on Giannis Antetokounmpo, Schroder would be in line for open looks.

This is a great destination for Schroder. He could start for a winning team.

So would the Bucks be open to bringing in Schroder as a starter?

It's possible. It would obviously have to come at the right price, but a 2-year deal could be feasible if money was moved around.
