It's already a given that the Luka Doncic is among the hottest names in the hobby right now. As great as he can be right now, the challenge before him is greater than anything Doncic has ever faced before – the Golden State Warriors.

Sure, Doncic has a claim to be the best player in this year's playoffs, especially after besting a squad with Chris Paul and Devin Booker in it. The thing is, his supporting cast is nowhere near the Dubs when it comes to experience and skill. For starters, Golden State's offense is filled with so many options, such as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Jordan Poole. With their shooting and playmaking combined, the Mavericks will surely be stretched on the defensive end of the court.

And speaking of defense, Golden State's vast playoff experience in that regard will surely come in handy, especially against a Mavericks squad that hasn't reached the Conference Finals since 2011. While Dallas recently impressed in that area against the Suns, they might be caught off-guard when playing a Warriors team that knows what it takes to win it all.

Judging from the odds alone, selling those Luka Doncic rookie cards now would be a safe option to entertain. Since the All-Star's stock is looking good, it won't hurt to cash in on that demand before potentially losing that momentum to a more talented Warriors squad.

Of course, collectors can hold on to the notion that Doncic and the Mavericks can overcome the Warriors and head on to face either the Boston Celtics or the Miami Heat, two teams that are deemed as more superior than Dallas'. But other than the possibility of the All-Star guard winning his first ring, there's really no other factor that can drastically increase the price of his rookie cards, especially the base. Add the fact that there are a lot of graded base cards in the market and collectors will see that there'll be a lot of selling of Doncic's stock in the foreseeable future.

Rather than join the crowd and have a hard time selling those cards, the safest and most prudent act is to put those Luka Doncic cards up for sale as early as now. In this way, you are preserving your capital against potential loss down the road. You can even re-invest that money again in Doncic, especially when prices go down in the off-season, or in other promising names in the hobby.
