Utah State quarterback Jordan Love has seen his 2020 NFL Draft stock sky-rocket him into not only first-round conversations but early first-round conversations.

That's fluctuated at times. There are points where he's suddenly a top-five pick, with team's trading up to get their quarterbacks. And there are others that have him falling deep into the first.

It seems like no one can get a perfect read on his draft position. This goes for his NFL comparisons too.

It's incredible the difference you will see in Love's NFL comparisons around the football world. I've seen anywhere from Blake Bortles to Patrick Mahomes.

Even Colin Kaepernick, which is just a bad comparison if you ask me. Kaepernick's worst rushing season saw him pick up 593 yards (all other three seasons he eclipsed 1,000). Love never even hit 593 in his three seasons combined.

So Kaepernick probably isn't the best NFL comparison for Love. Who is then?

To be honest, comparisons can be garbage in my opinion. Everyone is their own unique player. So comparing them to one person likely will never be perfect.

Even the Kaepernick that I just trashed isn't completely wrong. They have similar traits when it comes to passing. But that one difference was just far too big.

The reason I trashed it was to prove the point that no comparison really makes sense though.

Love does compare to Mahomes in that he has a cannon arm. And Bortles too because he does have some mobility and was very inconsistent in 2019.

The point of comparisons though is to point to one player and give people an idea of what he is most similar to. So if you had to throw Jordan Love in the conversation with any one player, you'd have to take the similarities with the differences.

With all that being said, Andy Dalton.

Dalton is not the most exciting comparison, it works though. He's a solid quarterback. In fact, at this point, I would say he's underrated.

Dalton is on an absolutely miserable team in the Cincinnati Bengals. Maybe if A.J. Green was healthy last year that would've been a little different, but that wasn't the case. The star wide receiver didn't even play in a game.

Instead, Dalton was on a team with average weapons, a bad line and a defense that wasn't doing him any favors either.

Dalton has a solid arm, so does Jordan Love. Both quarterbacks are also going to stick to the pocket most of the time, neither killing you with his legs.

They both are prone to inconsistent stretches though. Those stretches make the view on them negative at times.

At the same time, Dalton and Love can both flip a switch and go absolutely nuts for stretches at a time. That raises their stocks significantly.

So both Dalton and Love hit high highs and low lows. Strong armed quarterbacks who can be inconsistent and at some times inaccurate, but for the most part are pretty money with their throws. Neither will hurt you with the legs, preferring to stick to the pocket.

That sounds like a good comparison. But let's be honest, someone will probably find a reason they don't match at all because in the end, they are two different people.
