Last year, Phil Mickelson made history by becoming the oldest major champion in history when he won the 2021 PGA Championship. Lefty will not be around to defend his crown, though, in this tournament, which is just one of the many storylines heading to the 104th edition of the PGA Championship. With that said, check out some of the 2022 PGA Championship favorites and sleepers along with the pick to win it all in Tulsa.

2022 PGA Championship favorites odds

Jon Rahm (+1200). It took some time but the 27-year-old Spaniard got his first win of the season earlier this month by winning the 2022 Mexico Open at Vidanta. Even with the scarcity of success so far in the 2021-22 PGA TOUR campaign, Rahm is always considered a force to reckon with in any tournament he enters.

He’s consistently made it to the final day of events, having missed the cut just once in a total of 11 starts this season. And he’s also got five top 10s  and eight top 25s. Rahm also ranks as the no. 1 player this season with 73.83 greens in regulations percentage and fifth in driving distance (316.7).

Jordan Spieth (+1600). All eyes are always on Spieth whenever he’s in a tournament hosted in Texas. But the 2022 PGA Championship brings him even more attention for an obvious reason: here is a chance for him to finally nail that career slam down. He is only missing a PGA Championship win to join that exclusive club of modern career-slam winners that currently has only five members.

It’s almost like Spieth has been setting himself up to win this week, based on the way he’s been playing lately. He recently won the 2022 RBC Heritage – his second win of the season – before placing second last week to K.H. Lee at the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson. His putting form is not at its best this season but the Southern Hills Country Club is analytically a better fit for players with subpar putting.

Rory McIlroy (+1600). It’s now almost a decade since McIlroy win a major. But as a two-time PGA Championship winner, there’s always the confidence that the Northern Irishman will show up in terrific form every time in this tournament. And like Spieth, McIlroy is riding a wave of momentum into Southern Hills Country Club, thanks to a runner-up finish at the 2022 Masters Tournament and a fifth-place campaign at the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship.

McIlroy hasn’t been very active in this PGA TOUR season but he is 6/7 with four top 10s and five top 25s, including a win at the 2021 THE CJ CUP @ SUMMIT back in October. Eighth overall this season in driving distance (315.8), McIlroy seems to have the game that’s tailored for the Southern Hills CC.

2022 PGA Championship sleepers odds

Cameron Young (+7500).  At his odds, Young is looking like a high-value sleeper for the 2022 PGA Championship. He is 11/16 this season with three runner-up finishes already. In his most recent start, Young settled for a T-2 at the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship which came after a T-3 at the 2022 RBC Heritage.

He’s got four top 10s to date, but still is far from being a household name, hence his relatively long odds for a player with a resume like his this season. If he keeps on pumping out this kind of performance, Young will soon get shorter and shorter odds, so bettors should be able to capitalize on his value while it’s still peaking high.

Cameron Champ (+12000). The importance of driving distance at Southern Hills Country Club has been mentioned multiple times in this 2022 PGA Championship preview before you got to this point, and you’ll read about it again because when you talk about Cameron Champ, you have to mention the fact that he leads all players this season in driving distance (323.8).

As for his form, Champ has made the cut in all of his last three starts, two of which were top 10s campaigns (T-10 at the 2022 Masters and T-6 at the 2022 Mexico Open at Vidanta).

Final 2022 PGA Championship Prediction & Pick
