As teams compete for national glory at the Euros 2024, individuals will compete for the coveted Golden Boot. It is time to continue our 2024 Euros odds series with a 2024 Euros Golden Boot prediction and pick.
In 2021 it was Cristiano Ronaldo who took home the Golden Boot at the 2020 Euros, scoring five times in the tournament to take the award over Patrik Schick. He will be back to represent Portugal this year and is one against a favorite to win the award. Meanwhile, 2022 World Cup Golden Boot winner, Kylian Mbappe will be looking for his first Golden Boot at the Euros. His teammate, Antoine Griezmann took the award in 2016, scoring six times in the tournament, to beat out Ronaldo for the award. They will also be chasing the record for the most goals in a tournament. Michel Platini won the away in 1984 with France.

Favorites to Win the Euros 2023 Golden Boot
Kylian Mbappe leads the odds board for this award and good reason. Mbappe scored eight times in the World Cup, to beat out Lionel Messi by a goal, and take the Golden Boot. Mbappe also scored 44 times in the past year across team competitions in 47 matches. He has one of the highest goals-per-game averages out of the five major leagues in Europe and is a consistent threat to score. Still, he struggles in the last iteration of the Euros. He missed four major changes according to Opta statistics, not scoring in the competition. He is also in a group with solid defensive teams in Austria and the Netherlands. Further, Mbappe will have to share some of the load, with Oliver Giroud and Antoine Griezmann both on the roster.
The only person to score the same amount of goals in club play in the last year, and doing so in two fewer games, is Harry Kane. He is the career leader in goals for the England national team and has scored 12 goals in the World Cup and Euros combined. Kane has eight goals in qualifying games for England and has a more favorable group than Mbappe. Like Mbappe, he will have to share the load a little in scoring, with both Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden on the roster. Still, he is the clear-cut primary goal scorer. As England looks to return to the finals again, they will go only as far as Harry Kane takes him.
The defending Golden Boot champion Christian Ronaldo sits third in odds. His squad, Portugal, was knocked out in the round of 16, but Ronaldo still had enough goals to take home the award. He holds the record for the most goals in Euro competition with 14 and will be looking to add to that total. He did score 35 goals this past year, but that was in the Saudi Pro League. Ronaldo still scored ten goals in nine qualifiers for Portugal and is set up by two of the best in the world. He will be getting opportunities from both Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva. Still, there is the question of age. Can the 39-year-old keep performing at the highest level?
Romelu Lukaku is the all-time leading scorer for Belgium, sitting with 85 career goals across all international competitions. While he has 85 career goals in international play, he has found 11 of them in World Cups and Euros play. Further, he was dominant in qualification. Lukaku scored 14 times, finding the back of the net, on average, every 39 minutes he was on the pitch. Further, he scored on nearly half of his shots in qualification. He is also helped out by Kevin De Bruyne. De Bruyne is one of the best in the world at setting up play and should put Lukaku in solid positions.
Sleepers to Win the Euros 2024 Golden Boot
Alvaro Morata scored three times for Spain in the last tournament, but this is more about missed opportunities. Morata missed six big chances to score last time in this competition according to Opta Statistics. That was the most of any player. He scored four times in qualification for this tournament, but factors are working against Morata. He only scored 15 times in La Liga play this year, much lower than the other top guys in their respective leagues. Second, Spain plays a slowed and more patient style, which will slow down goal scoring.
Germany sits third in odds to win the tournament, and with winning comes more chances to score. The top man on the board for the German side is Kai Havertz. He scored twice in two matches at the World Cup in 2022 and had two goals in four matches at the 2020 Euros. Hacerz scored 13 times this year for Arsenal in 37 games, and if there is a player on the German squad who could take home the Golden Boot for this squad this is it.
Final Euros 2024 Golden Boot Prediction & Pick
The top stars play at their best when the lights are the brightest, normally. Kylian Mbappe learned to results of crumbling under pressure in the 2020 Euros, but he made up for it at the World Cup. Still, France has a tough group and Mbappe will be behind early in the race. Taking a risk on a player like Romelu Lukakau may be tempting, but with Belgium unlikely to go deep in this tournament, he is not the right pick. The winner of the 2024 Euros Golden Boot will be Harry Kane, as he leads England back to the finals.
