The Washington Wizards drew the 10th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft Lottery. After another middling season, they are looking for ways to become a strong team again.

Simply put, the Wizards need talent. It doesn't matter what position they can find it at. They just need a high-level player to give them some sort of direction and/or hope for the future. Finding a promising rookie and making smart trades this offseason are crucial moves as they look to become competitive again.

Whether the Wizards still want to win with Bradley Beal or finally start rebuilding, they have to draft the best player they have available to them. Not having a top pick makes this harder but they still have a lot of options in the NBA Draft at their disposal.

3 best options for Wizards after getting 10th pick at 2022 NBA Draft Lottery

3. Ousmane Dieng — F, New Zealand Breakers (NBL)

The Wizards already have a lot of wings and forwards, some of which are their past draft picks. None of them seem like bonafide franchise players, though, so Washington should take someone with a high upside and disregard the glut they may have. Enter Ousmane Dieng.

In Australia's NBL, Dieng averaged 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists on 39.8 percent field-goal shooting in 20.8 minutes per game. The stats may not pop off the page but watching the almost-19-year-old go to work reveals the potential he has. His defense is strong and pretty advanced for someone so young. So are the passes he makes.

The concern with Dieng is his shooting. He shot 66.7 percent from the free-throw line and 27.1 percent from 3-point territory. If he struggles to shoot and can't figure out how to drive against defenses, his offensive value will be minuscule. The transition from the NBL to the NBA will also be a very big leap that he may not be equipped to handle.

Even with his concerns, Dieng is young, athletic and smart. His upside is worth the risk for the 10th overall selection.

2. Jalen Duren — C, Memphis

With Kristaps Porzingis now on board and Thomas Bryant unable to stay healthy, the Wizards should look for a true interior presence. Jalen Duren is just that with the potential to be more.

Duren, who is not yet 19 years old, averaged 12.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 1.3 assists while shooting 59.7 percent from the field while playing 25.3 minutes. He is a fantastic athlete that works his tail off on defense. The Wizards need someone to energize the team and the 6-foot-10 teenager could do just that.

Although Duren has a solid foundation as a lob threat and leaves some intrigue about his upside, he has a lot of room to improve. He has not shown shooting or playmaking skills on a consistent basis. At 250 pounds, he will also be somewhat undersized against many centers.

Still, Duren has plenty of time to develop more skills and become more than just the average athletic rim runner.

1. Johnny Davis — G, Wisconsin

If the Wizards are looking for a player who can truly impact the game on both sides of the game, they should draft Davis. The 20-year-old, 6-foot-5 guard is electric on both sides of the ball.

Davis posted per-game averages of 19.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 42.7 percent from the field, 30.6 percent from deep and 79.1 percent from the free-throw line. He is a solid athlete and displayed very impressive control when he draws contact on drives. His pull-up shooting and overall defense make him both fun to watch and beneficial for his team.

Although Davis plays super hard and gets buckets, his 3-point shooting is not super impressive. He also has the tendency to shoot, shoot, shoot no matter what, looking like Kobe Bryant shooting over four defenders. As someone who is also not a great playmaker, Davis absolutely has to iron out his shot selection.

Davis could not only play next to Beal but possibly supplant him as Washington's scorer if they trade their veteran star.
