At the beginning of the offseason, most people expected the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire one or two veteran quarterbacks through trades and free agency. Then, when it came time for the draft, people expected the Birds to focus on strengthening and bringing youth to the defensive line.

So far, Howie Roseman and the Eagles have loosely followed the public's expectations. The team signed Zach Pascal, a former wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts, to a one-year deal. Philadelphia also got a head start on rebuilding its defensive line by re-signing Fletcher Cox and Derek Barnett.

So, it begs the question: will the Eagles draft young defensemen this offseason like expected, or will they go rogue with obscure picks on offense?

The Eagles have arguably the most leverage in the 2022 NFL Draft with three first-round picks. Here are the three best players that the Eagles can draft with their first pick in the upcoming draft.

3 best players the Eagles can select with the 15th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft

3. Jordan Davis – Georgia Bulldogs

Jordan Davis is one of many prospects out of the University of Georgia. The senior defensive tackle is 6'6″, 341 pounds of pure talent. Davis recorded 32 tackles, 2.0 sacks, and one pass deflection for the Bulldogs in 14 games his senior year. He would be the perfect addition to the Eagles as the team continues to rebuild and bring youth to its roster.

On March 17, the Eagles released veteran defensive tackle Fletcher Cox. Two days later, the team agreed to a short deal with the 31-year-old, bringing him on board for another year. That being said, now is the perfect time for the Birds to bring young talent to the position. Cox could spend his final year in Philadelphia training Davis to take over as the starter.

2. Derek Stingley Jr. – LSU

Derek Stingley Jr. is one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2022 draft class. Stingley found great success throughout his three years at Louisiana State University. He was a 2019 CFP National Champion, 2019 Consensus All-American, and two-time first-team All-SEC player.

Stingley is 6-feet tall, 195 pounds, and has a very similar build to that of Eagles' left cornerback Darius Slay. The duo could become interchangeable and work off of one another to bring both speed and agility to the Eagles' defense.

1. Travon Walker – Georgia Bulldogs

Finally, Travon Walker is the best option for the Eagles at 15th overall. The junior out of the University of Georgia is the top defensive lineman prospect in the draft, according to CBS Sports. Much like Cox with Jordan Davis, Brandon Graham could take Walker under his wing and train him to become a rising star for the Eagles.

Graham is 33 years old and has suffered multiple injuries throughout his career. Most recently, the defensive end suffered a torn Achilles that forced him to miss the majority of the 2021-2022 season. He is questionable for the start of training camp, but could be a valuable mentor for Walker.

According to NFL analyst Lance Zierlein, Walker has many strengths to put him at the top of his draft class. The 6'5″, 272-pound lineman uses his size and power at the point of attack, and has an “excellent understanding of how to create leverage” over his opponents.

If the Eagles capitalize on the young defensive talents in this year's draft, they will be on track for success heading into the second year of their rebuild.
