The Washington Commanders have slowly but surely improved this offseason. Although Carson Wentz isn't the most exciting quarterback, he is definitely an upgrade over Taylor Heinicke. Fans should be excited as the defense is solid throughout while the offense isn't too far away from being great. However, we look at three potential trade targets for the Commanders to round out their 2022 roster.

Washington has plenty to be excited about regarding the wide receiver position. Terry McLaurin is a true star and should (hopefully) sign an extension with the Commanders soon. Additionally, Jahan Dotson is a thrilling rookie who aims to make an immediate impact while Curtis Samuel aims to bounce back from his injury. Even so, another wide receiver would help tremendously.

The Commanders don't have to worry about McLaurin when he's on the field, as he's one of the most consistent pass options in the league. However, Dotson is a rookie who may take some time to adjust to the professional level and Samuel is riddled with red flags. For that reason, the front office should consider finding another receiver.

With that said, here are three trade targets for the Commanders to complete the 2022 roster for the upcoming season.

Commanders Trade Targets To Complete 2022 Roster

3. Darius Slayton

Darius Slayton is in a sticky situation right now, as the New York Giants have a ton of wide receivers on the roster right now. Inter-division trades rarely come to fruition but considering Slayton isn't at the top of New York's roster, the Commanders might be able to pull it off. Although he's not the most exciting name, he could shine in Washington.

Slayton has flashed potential sporadically throughout his career but has struggled with consistency. A new change of scenery might be exactly what he needs to rejuvenate his career. Having him mix in with the Commanders' current wide receiver core could elevate the passing attack in Washington.

2. Marquez Callaway

Another receiver who would benefit on a new team is Marquez Callaway. He had the opportunity to be the first option for the New Orleans Saints last year but didn't quite live up to those expectations. With Michael Thomas returning, along with the additions of Chris Olave and Jarvis Landry, Callaway seems to be the odd man out. This makes him a perfect trade target for the Commanders.

Marquez Callaway didn't play all that poorly but failed to receive many targets with Jameis Winston under center. However, Callaway could carve out a role in the Commanders' offense. With Jahan Dotson developing and Curtis Samuel coming back from an injury, the current Saints receiver could make an impact in Washington as a second or third option to begin the 2022 season.

1. Tyler Lockett

Okay here's a receiver fans can truly be excited about. Although Tyler Lockett is a top playmaker for the Seattle Seahawks, the franchise is in rebuild mode. Now is the best time for Seattle to trade their veteran receiver and gain some much-needed draft capital. For the Commanders, Lockett would raise the passing attack to new heights, as McLaurin would have a legitimate sidekick in Washington.

Imagine a receiving core consisting of Terry McLaurin, Tyler Lockett, Jahan Dotson, and Curtis Samuel. Those four together would have Commanders fans drooling. Keep an eye on Washington, as the front office should highly consider making an aggressive push to trade for a veteran wide receiver.
