Life has been pretty good for the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Sean McVay led his team to a Super Bowl victory in 2021, and general manager Les Snead promptly followed that up with an excellent offseason. The Rams were able to maintain most of their key pieces throughout free agency, and continued their success with a solid 2022 NFL Draft. Despite all of this, there are still areas in which Los Angeles could improve. With that being said, here are the three best trade targets for the Rams to round out their roster as the regular season approaches.

Rams Trade Targets To Complete 2022 Roster

3. Carl Granderson

This trade won’t exactly make huge headlines. It would however be a savvy move from the Los Angeles front office. New Orleans Saints defensive end Carl Granderson is one of the more underrated pass-rushers in the NFL. That is largely because of the amount he sees the field. The Saints essentially only used him as a situational pass-rusher, but he was extremely effective in those scenarios. Making things even better is the fact that Granderson is only 25 years old. It likely wouldn’t take more than a late-round pick to acquire Granderson, who would also fill a big position of need.

Last season, the Rams fielded one of the best edge-rushing units in the NFL. However, that’s unlikely to be the case in 2022 after the departure of linebacker Von Miller. Los Angeles still has Leonard Floyd, but the other edge position is a question mark. Justin Hollins will likely begin the season as the starter, but there’s almost no depth behind him. Terrell Lewis is the first guy off the bench, and he’s never contributed meaningful snaps to the Rams. Beyond Lewis, there isn’t a single notable backup. Granderson would provide depth and the ability to rotate defenders at the position, something that most defenses like to do.

Plus, there is still no guarantee that Aaron Donald returns to the Rams. That would be a massive blow to their pass rush as a whole.

Tuesday, it was revealed how content Donald supposedly would be if he were to retire. The league’s best defensive tackle has openly talked about potential retirement after winning the Super Bowl. Those conversations appeared to quiet down but with a new contract still not in place, Donald reminded everyone.

2. Blake Cashman

This is another trade that wouldn’t be all that exciting, but would make a ton of sense. Linebacker Blake Cashman has shown some flashes of good play throughout his NFL career. He hasn’t been able to put it all together because of an extensive injury history. Now he’s buried on the Houston Texans depth chart. The Rams desperately need depth at inside linebacker, and going after a high-ceiling guy like Cashman would make a ton of sense, especially since it would cost the Rams next to nothing.

Los Angeles does have established starters at linebacker, but they have almost zero depth at the position. Bobby Wagner and Ernest Jones will certainly take the starting spots. After those two, the only backup with any experience is former undrafted free agent Travin Howard. Jones dealt with injuries last season, and Wagner is getting up there in age. It would be a huge surprise to see both guys play every single game this season. Cashman’s presence would provide a proven backup for next to no cost.

1. Robbie Anderson

The Rams’ performance in the Super Bowl showed just how important depth at wide receiver is. Los Angeles lost receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in the first half, and their offense looked totally inept because of his absence. The Rams didn’t have any adequate backups, and it killed their offense for a couple of quarters. Los Angeles can’t enter the season with a similar lack of depth at the position. Aside from their three starters, the Rams don’t have much in the way of good pass-catchers. They need to add one before the regular season begins to prevent a similar disaster from occurring in 2022.

That’s where Anderson comes in. The veteran receiver has elite speed and a decent track record of success. Unfortunately, he plays in Carolina, a team that has an absolutely abysmal quarterback situation. Anderson hasn’t been able to produce largely because of his quarterback play, but he still has the talent to make an impact. Making him an even better trade target is the fact that he’s voiced his displeasure with the Panthers multiple times. Both Carolina and Anderson should be looking to make a move, which could allow the Rams to pick him up for cheap.
