Out of all the potential options at pick No. 15 for the Detroit Pistons in the 2019 NBA Draft, most experts projected that French sensation Sekou Doumbouya would not be one of them because he would be gone by the time the Pistons picked. While many Pistons fans may not have heard of Doumbouya, he will make an impact in a hurry with the franchise.

Doumbouya has NBA size at 6-foot-9 and 230 pounds, and he is shaped just like NBA champion forward Pascal Siakam and could very well be the NBA's next international star. The youngest player in the draft has a lot of raw talent and skills that need to be fine-tuned, but he can still make an instant impact for the Pistons during the 2019-20 season.

Doumbouya will average more than 1.5 stocks per game

There is a learning curve when it comes to playing NBA defense that most rookies go through in their opening year. While Sekou Doumbouya's defensive IQ may not be incredibly high yet, he has the size and speed to make up for it thanks to the versatility to guard every position on the court, and he won't get shown up by quicker guards in isolation matchups.

While he does tend to miss a few defensive rotations and reads, playing next to smart defenders like Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond can help Doumbouya make up for those mistakes pretty quickly. In 27 games with Limoges last season, Doumbouya averaged 1.0 blocks and 1.4 steals per 36 minutes, proving that his elite athleticism can create problems for opposing offenses.

Even though he may struggle in the opening parts of the season, by the time he earns his place in the rotation, it's likely that Doumbouya will be averaging 1.5 stocks (steals+blocks) in his opening season.

Doumbouya will score 20 or more points at least 5 times

The Pistons' offense could use a few more shooters, which is exactly what Doumbouya can be in the NBA. A 3-and-D wing comparable to pro players such as Al-Farouq Aminu, Doumbouya proved to be capable of lighting it up from deep in his time in France, shooting 34 percent from 3 with a solid-looking jump shot this past season in France. With point guards like Reggie Jackson and Ish Smith (if he returns as a free agent) setting the rookie up with good shots, that percentage is likely to go up in 2019-20.

Doumbouya also shot 58.6 percent from inside the arc, developing a solid floater and proving to be a reliable scorer off basket cuts and off-ball screens, both of which are prominent in Dwane Casey's offense.

On May 18, Doumbouya managed to score 34 points in a game in the LNB Pro A league, showing he has the ability to provide a scoring burst for a Pistons squad in dire need of it. Given he's a size mismatch at his position with a balanced offensive attack, expect to see more than a few scoring outbursts once the NBA season starts.

Doumbouya will make the All-Rookie Second Team

While the 2019 draft class is front-loaded with talented players such as Zion Williamson, Ja Morant and RJ Barrett, it doesn't project to be a very deep class, making a spot on one of the All-Rookie teams wide open for players like Sekou Doumbouya.

While Detroit has played it safe in the draft in recent years, they took a risk in this year's draft by drafting a raw prospect with a high ceiling and low floor in Doumbouya. Even though there tends to be a rookie learning curve, Doumbouya is used to playing against guys who are much more experienced than him, as he has been playing professional basketball in France since he was 15.

With his pro size, raw skill and improving offensive game, Doumbouya projects to be a rotation player for the Pistons, providing scoring bursts that former Pistons forward Stanley Johnson struggled to have. While he may not end being the next Siakam or Aminu, if he can learn NBA defensive rotations quickly and can improve his 3-point shot and off-ball movement, he has the potential to not only make the All-Rookie Second Team, but also help the Pistons back to the postseason.
