The Los Angeles Rams made a surprising decision to move on from Todd Gurley. After trying to trade him for weeks, the team made a brutally tough decision to release him. Now, Gurley is set to hit the open free agency market.

Todd Gurley will immediately become one of the most intriguing players on the market. He may have an arthritic component in his knee and he may have had a bit of a down season in 2019, but he still is one of the top running backs in the NFL. There are quite a few teams who could use a guy like Gurley in their backfield as well.

Last season with the Rams, Todd Gurley ended up carrying the football 223 times for 857 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also caught 31 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers aren't elite, but they show that Gurley still has some good football left in him.

At just 25 years old, Gurley is still worth the risk for a team to sign to a three or four-year deal. He may not be able to go back to being the workhorse monster that he once was, but teams should still view him as an every-down back. Gurley will want a much more consistent role than he has last season with the Rams.

All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at the three teams who are the most likely free agency destinations for Todd Gurley this offseason.

3. Atlanta Falcons

One of the more intriguing destinations for Todd Gurley this offseason would be the Falcons. They have a need at running back following their decision to release longtime running back Devonta Freeman. Gurley also has a good history in Georgia, where he played his college football career with the Bulldogs.

Atlanta is looking to get back into contention in 2020. Head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff are both on the hot seat and could lose their jobs if the Falcons don't make the playoffs. That could motivate them to go after Todd Gurley aggressive this offseason.

Gurley would make their offense much more dangerous. Adding him to a core of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones would give them two ways to beat defenses. This is something worth keeping an eye on over the next few days.

2. Miami Dolphins

Next up, the Miami Dolphins have been very active so far in free agency. They made key splashes in cornerback Byron Jones and linebacker Kyle Van Noy. Miami also went out and brought in veteran running back Jordan Howard.

Howard's signing has made some think the Dolphins won't be involved in the Gurley sweepstakes. However, it actually makes them more likely to look to sign the star running back. Having Howard on the roster would give them a quality back who can help take some stress off of Gurley throughout the regular season so he can remain healthy for their hopeful playoff run.

Miami hasn't been viewed as a playoff contender for quite some time. But, if they can sign Todd Gurley and bring in either Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert, they could be well on their way towards getting back to the postseason.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Everyone probably saw this coming. Tampa Bay is going all-in to win now with the signing of Tom Brady. They already have Mike Evans and Chris Godwin as their two star wide receivers and O.J. Howard as a quality tight end with huge potential.

Adding a legitimate running game is a necessity for the Buccaneers this offseason. It wouldn't get much better than a guy like Todd Gurley.

Todd Gurley would have to be interested in joining Brady with the Buccaneers. Quite a few players around the league who are free agents will have interest in signing with Tampa Bay. A Gurley, Brady, Evans, and Godwin offense would strike fears in opponents and could be a squad the makes the Bucs a legitimate championship contender.
