The Indianapolis Colts are way ahead of schedule in regards to how their current roster has come together so quickly. All of their past draft picks are panning out, most notably offensive lineman Quenton Nelson and linebacker Darius Leonard.

For a team that looks to be borderline complete prior to the 2019 season, what exactly do the Colts need to take the team to the next level? The 2019 draft could prove to be another success for the Colts, but with an influx of talent in the first round, they'll have to choose wisely at the 26th spot. The Colts could opt to beef up the defense a bit more or give quarterback Andrew Luck another weapon on offense.

Here are a few options for Indianapolis that would be a great fit heading into the 2019 season.

Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State

Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons is without a doubt a first-round talent; the only question is will he still be around long enough for the Colts to take him in this year's draft. A torn ACL is likely the reason why he is projected to slide in the first round; otherwise, he is said to be a top-10 talent.

The Colts could instantly insert Simmons onto the defensive line alongside Jabaal Sheard and Denico Autry. Indianapolis is a fantastic offensive team with an up and coming defense. It's obvious the Colts could desperately use a stronger pass rush after a mediocre 2018 season in regards to pressuring the quarterback. Simmons could be a huge addition to the Colts roster in regards to establishing a strong pass rush to complement the other layers of the defense.

Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

Clemson's star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins could be a similar addition to Simmons, it's a matter of preference as well as who will be available for them. Wilkins has quickness and agility off the line which could be huge for the Colts as they were one of the league's most lackluster teams in regards to pressuring opposing quarterbacks.

Wilkins was a beast in college and spent all four years polishing his game in addition to winning two national titles under head coach Dabo Swinney. The All-American defensive tackle really came alive his sophomore season with 13.0 tackles for a loss and found himself being a major contributor in the Tiger's pass rush.

A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss

If the Colts choose to forego addressing their defensive needs in the first round, Ole Miss wide receiver A.J. Brown could be a perfect fit in a pass-heavy offense. Brown has been highly touted by scouts and former NFL players, even suggesting he could be a future Hall of Fame pass catcher.

Brown caught 85 passes for 1,320 yards and averaged 15.5 yards per catch. The Colts could pair Brown with T.Y. Hilton and Devin Funchess, and he could become a focal point of the offense very early on in the 2019 season. Andrew Luck does not shy away from gun-slinging so a player like Brown could see a lot of targets next season, further bolstering the Colts lethal offense.
