The Buffalo Bills enter the 2020 NFL season as favorites among the media and fans alike to win the AFC East. Of course, that comes due to the surprising departure of Tom Brady from the New England Patriots.

Also, Buffalo has made some refinements to their roster this offseason. Most notably, the Bills were able to acquire Stefon Diggs in a blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Vikings. As a result of the Diggs trade, Buffalo expects Josh Allen to take a massive leap forward next season.

Besides Allen, Buffalo will need other players on the roster to contribute in larger roles if they hope to dethrone the Patriots. In light of that, here are three potential breakout players for the Bills in the 2020 NFL season.

Dawson Knox

The Bills entered the 2019 season with Tyler Kroft as their starting tight end. However, it didn't take long for Dawson Knox — one of Buffalo's third-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft — to unseat Kroft for their starting job.

Standing at 6-foot-4, nearly 250 pounds, Knox became the biggest pass-catcher that the Bills could deploy in their offense. As a result, he became a somewhat reliable target for Allen in the aerial attack.

Despite seeing an inconsistent role, Knox hauled in 28 passes for 388 yards and two touchdowns in 2019. While the Bills now have Diggs, John Brown, and Cole Beasley at wide receiver, Knox should still see an increase in targets next season.

Devin Singletary

Before the Bills took Knox with the No. 96 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, they drafted Devin Singletary with the No. 74 pick in the third round. Similar to Knox, Singletary didn't see a consistent role with the team in his rookie campaign.

Nevertheless, Singletary still managed to contribute 969 scrimmage yards on 180 touches and he found the end zone four times. As a rookie, Singletary was forced to share the workload with Frank Gore and T.J. Yeldon.

But with Gore gone, Singletary has received high-praise from GM Brandon Beane this offseason. However, the selection of Zack Moss in the 2020 NFL Draft is about the only thing that could spoil Singletary's breakout season.

Ed Oliver

Coming out of college, Ed Oliver drew comparisons to All-Pro Aaron Donald due to his perceived lack of size as an interior defender. Therefore, the Houston product was given lofty expectations headed into his rookie season with the Bills.

The rookie first-round pick would respond by notching five sacks, five tackles for loss, eight quarterback hits, and a forced fumble in 2019. What makes those numbers a bit more impressive is that he started in only seven games.

Unfortunately, an off-the-field incident involving Oliver could cause him to miss some games in his second year with the Bills. Regardless of whether or not he misses time, Oliver is poised to have a stellar campaign in 2020.
