Earlier in the offseason, the San Francisco 49ers appeared to have a blessing placed in front of them. It looked as if the Arizona Cardinals were going to make a surprise play for Oklahoma's Kyler Murray at quarterback instead of going after the best player available. In turn, the best possible (Nick Bosa) will go to the 49ers.

It looked as if it was a total win-win for two teams looking to a complete a rebuild. Unfortunately, that might all change as the Cardinals decided to do a meeting with Bosa.

Some speculate that it's a smokescreen to get someone to make a trade up for Bosa or even Murray. As of now, it seems as though the Cards hold all of the cards and that they're playing three-dimensional chess while the rest of the NFL is playing checkers.

But with this newfound knowledge and wrench thrown into San Francisco's plans, the 49ers might need to look into other options with the second overall pick. So here are some possibilities that the San Francisco 49ers should consider if Nick Bosa is taken with the first overall pick.

Quinnen Williams

With the best player off the board at number one, it would be important for the 49ers to look to the second-best. Williams is a freakish athlete at over 300 pounds and can run a 40 in 4.83 seconds and can create sack opportunities for himself and others on the defensive line.

He's shot his way up to the top of mock draft boards as the best overall talent. Not to mention being the highest graded interior defender in college by PFF.

The 49ers pass rush is still in desperate need of solving what to do with the front seven at this point. The best rusher is DeForest Buckner as he came away with a career-high 12 sacks last season. The closest to him was a two-way tie with Cassius Marsh (not on the team anymore) and Ronald Blair (Buckner's backup).

The 49ers used Buckner in many different areas, but one area the team could use him most is at the LEO spot. And if the 49ers draft Williams then they would put him in Buckner's place in the middle. Or even using the two in the interior of the line while Arik Armstead and Solomon Thomas attack from the Big Edge spot and newly acquired Dee Ford comes off from the LEO position.

Grabbing the best overall defender, maybe even best overall player, in the draft will help elevate the San Francisco 49ers defense to where it needs to be.

Josh Allen

If the Cardinals make the move to draft Nick Bosa, then the 49ers can answer that by grabbing arguably the second-best edge rusher. Allen is comparable to Bosa in just about everything with Bosa. The biggest upside that teams can get from Allen is that he stays healthy.

He improved with every season he played in college as he shot up to become arguably the best pass rusher in the NCAA in 2018. Allen's presence is something that can affect any offensive gameplan with not only his rushing ability but also his play in coverage that doesn't get talked about enough either.

Having Allen on the edge opposite of a player like Ford would be an unfair advantage to any offense going up against the 49ers in 2019. And with a move that could see Armstead and Buckner attacking from the inside, both of whom stand at 6'7″, quarterbacks would be unable to know where to pass. Not to mention, helping the rushing defense as Buckner and Armstead do some of their best work against the run.

Even with Bosa taken early in the draft, it isn't short on great edge rushers on the board early.

Kyler Murray

Hear me out. It's not to get rid of Jimmy Garoppolo or Nick Mullens in a trade. It's rather to make a draft day trade for any quarterback-needy team later in the first round.

This strategy will not only give the 49ers a likely second chance in the first round or a great prospect that can fill a positional need but allow the 49ers to gain more draft capital in later rounds. If the 49ers can get a trade out of the Broncos, Giants, or even the Redskins, then the 49ers can give up enough for themselves to fill up positional needs in all sectors.

The 49ers can go onto grabbing someone on the defensive line like Montez Sweat or Ed Oliver. They can even look into solving the answer at cornerback that's been plaguing them for so many seasons with Greedy Williams. Or even getting a chance to draft one of the talented receivers in the draft to give the 49ers that greater spark in Kyle Shanahan's offense.

The hype surrounding Kyler Murray is something that can work into the San Francisco 49ers' favor. And with great results to boost.
