The Green Bay Packers have had an action-packed offseason so far, signing multiple big-name free agents. Now, the Packers are focused on the NFL Draft that will go on later this month.

Even after free agency, Green Bay still has a few needs on their roster. For instance, the Packers still need to find guys to protect Aaron Rodgers and possibly add more weapons for him as well.

In this year's draft, the Packers hold 10 picks altogether and more notably the 12th and 30th overall picks. Trading up in the draft could be a possibility for Green Bay to get a guy they like.

When you own two first-round selections, trading up is always a practical scenario. Here are three reasons why trading up in the NFL Draft could be in the Packers' best interests.

3. Waiting Could Hurt You in the End

At this time of the draft process, teams are likely rounding out their draft boards. They may have guys who they believe will be there when they select, but they end up being drafted prior to their selection.

For example, the Packers may have someone at the top of their board that they believe will still be there at the 12th pick. Then, another team swoops in and selects the guy they really wanted and they're stuck in a frenzy.

Trading up could allow Green Bay to avoid that situation entirely. They have plenty of picks to work with so trading up shouldn't be too tough of a task.

Waiting in the NFL Draft could be ruined when things don't go as planned. That's why the Packers should consider trading up in this year's draft.

2. Trading Up Will Likely Need to Happen if the Packers Want D.K. Metcalf

The NFL Combine allowed D.K. Metcalf to showcase how good he could be in the NFL. The Packers need more weapons on their offense after Randall Cobb departed in free agency.

Green Bay has a few young receivers that could step up in starting roles, but trading up for Metcalf would give Davante Adams major help on the other side of the field.

Before the NFL Combine happened, barely anyone was talking about Metcalf. At 6-foot-3 and 228 pounds, Metcalf ran a 4.33 40-yard dash and showed off his physical skills to NFL scouts.

The Packers have plenty of routes they could go in the NFL Draft and wide receiver could be the ultimate decision—more specifically Metcalf.

1. Iowa Tight Ends are Popular

Another route that the Packers could wind up taking in the NFL Draft is a tight end. Although, the Packers still have Jimmy Graham on their roster.

The two top tight ends in this year's draft come from Iowa. T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant are rising up draft boards after their combines and Pro Days.

There have been some draft boards with either tight end going in the top 10, so trading up may need to happen if the Packers want one of them. Again, Green Bay has decided to retain Graham for 2019 but you can never have enough weapons on offense.

After hiring Matt LaFleur as head coach, it's expected that the Packers are going to focus on their offense in the NFL Draft. With Rodgers aging, the Packers need to maximize his time remaining by drafting more weapons around him.
