Corey Seager is one of the best shortstops in baseball and one of the hottest free agents on the market. He's an elite left-handed hitter who can play above-average defense at shortstop. Seager offers pretty much anything a ballclub would want and that's the reason why many teams are looking at him this offseason. There are some concerns with Seager as he has had trouble staying healthy throughout his career but he's an elite talent and the risk is worth it.

He's only 27 years old so he's going to get a pretty lengthy contract that's worth a lot of money. In Seager's defense, this is deserved as he's already accumulated a 21.3 WAR through 636 games. He's only had three seasons with over 100 games but in those seasons he's been able to belt at least 19 home runs. He's a career .297/.394/.521 hitter. In only 95 games this past season, Seager was able to hit 16 home runs and hit .306.

Teams around the league see just how good Corey Seager is and that's why he's on most teams' radars. Let's take a look at three teams that could benefit from signing Seager.

Three Teams Who Should Sign Corey Seager

New York Yankees

The New York Yankees should be the number one team on this list. There are a few other shortstop options out there but with what Carlos Correa has done, and most recently what he has said about all-time Yankee Legend Derek Jeter, the chances of Correa signing to the Yankees are low. This isn't that big of a deal for the Yankees as Corey Seager can be just as good as Correa if not better if he can stay healthy.

The Yankees desperately need a shortstop. They found out last season that Gleyber Torres isn't the man for the job. Not only do the Yankees need a shortstop, but they also need a left-handed bat in their lineup. What other guy is better than an elite left-handed hitter? Yankee Stadium has a short porch in right field and Corey Seager has the potential to hit 40-plus home runs in Yankee Stadium. The Yankees are big on Seager and they have already discussed with his agent.

Corey Seager to the Yankees makes the most sense but there are other teams who could use him.

Seattle Mariners

The Mariners have stated that they are going to be big spenders this offseason. They proved last season that they were going to be a team to watch out for in the future. Seager could be interested by this considering that he has already played in the west coast and they can offer him the salary that he's looking for.

This would make sense from the Mariners side too as they should be looking to bring in as many players with playoff experience as possible. Seager can come in and teach the guys the ropes and help them get into the playoffs for the first time in over 20 seasons. They do have J.P. Crawford but they could slide him over to second base and have Seager play shortstop. The Mariners are a young and exciting team. Them adding a 27-year-old star should definitely be intriguing to them. If the Mariners can make this move as well as adding some pitching, they have a very good chance of winning the American League West next season. The West should be wide open next year. Both the Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics are losing some of their players.

New York Mets

If the Mets decide to not re-sign Javier Baez, they need to go after Corey Seager. The Mets for what seems like the past decade have struggled offensively. Bringing in a hitter who can hit over .300 in the middle of the order will definitely help produce more runs for a struggling offense. New York Mets owner Steve Cohen isn't one who is shy to spend. Seager might cost a lot of money but that's not a problem for Cohen at all. Seager has already played in the bright lights of Los Angeles with the Dodgers. Coming over to New York won't be too much pressure for him either.

Corey Seager is one of the best players in baseball. It's only a matter of days before teams throw an insane amount of money towards him. A lot of people are saying that Carlos Correa is by far the best shortstop on the market. If Corey Seager stays healthy, there's an argument that he is better.
