In a surprise move that has taken the entire NFL by surprise, the Kansas City Chiefs have traded Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for a whopping five draft picks. Hill wanted a massive contract after seeing what Davante Adams got from the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Chiefs ultimately decided it was better to get that trade haul than paying up for Hill. Giving up one of Patrick Mahomes' top weapons seems like a bit of a head-scratching move given just how much Hill meant to Kansas City's passing game.

FanDuel March Madness

On the other hand, this gives the Chiefs the opportunity to reinvent their passing game and scour the free agent market for a few high quality wideouts who could fill the massive void left by Hill but at a much cheaper price. There were already rumors of a possible addition of Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and let's take a look at three other wide receivers the Chiefs should pursue in 2022 NFL free agency after sending Hill to the Dolphins.

Kansas City Chiefs WR targets

Julio Jones

After being cut by the Tennessee Titans, Julio Jones is seeking a new home and may find a great fit playing in Kansas City. He did miss a good portion of  games last year due to a lingering hamstring injury, but he's looking to be back at full strength by the start of the 2022 NFL season.

On the Chiefs, Jones could be rejuvenated playing in their uptempo offense and get plenty of touches while forming stellar on-field chemistry with Patrick Mahomes. He may not have the speed or elusiveness of Tyreek Hill, but his athleticism and ball skills would do wonders for a Chiefs team that's hoping to reclaim the title in this upcoming season. Plus his playoff and Super Bowl experience would pay major dividends for Kansas City heading into the postseason.

Jarvis Landry

Coming off an ugly split with the Cleveland Browns, Jarvis Landry is a well-rounded free agent receiver who would be an ideal replacement for Hill in Kansas City. His versatile skil lset, agility, and killer playmaking ability would enable him to thrive on the Chiefs and really open things up for JuJu Smith-Schuster and Travis Kelce while giving them a dynamic offensive unit.

Playing for a real Super Bowl contender like the Chiefs would also give Landry a legitimate shot at winning a championship for the first time in his illustrious career. On the Chiefs, Landry would be a great fit and give Mahomes another reliable set of hands to come through for them in the clutch.

Odell Beckham Jr

Still recovering from an ACL tear suffered during Super Bowl 56, Odell Beckham Jr. may not be returning to the reigning NFL champs next season. If OBJ does wind up moving on from the Los Angeles Rams, the Chiefs would be his next best fit in terms of opportunity to compete at the highest level while also getting the right amount of touches.

When fully healthy, Beckham is still one of the best wideouts in the league, and his experience, strength, and endurance would perfectly complement the skill sets of Mahomes, Kelce, and Smith-Schuster while adding some much-needed depth to their passing game. The Chiefs would have to wait for a while for OBJ to fully recover from his ACL injury, but in due time he'd be a major difference maker for Mahomes and Co.
