The Seattle Seahawks seem certain to enter a rebuild after the blockbuster trade that saw Russell Wilson dealt to the Denver Broncos on Tuesday. With quarterback now an area of need in Seattle for the first time in more than a decade, the Seahawks need to explore every possibility in regards to the vacancy. Whether the Seahawks aim to land a veteran in free agency or address the need via the draft remains to be seen, but there are a handful of options who would be strong fits to step into the role vacated by Wilson. With that in mind, here are four quarterbacks the Seahawks should have in their crosshairs this offseason.

4 Best QB options for Seahawks after Russell Wilson trade

4. Cam Newton

The Seahawks may not be too intrigued by any of the quarterbacks in the 2022 draft class. If the team opts to wait on their quarterback of the future, they may seek out a veteran presence to compete for the starting job. Cam Newton isn't expected to return to Carolina, especially not after his bizarre usage within Matt Rhule's system, so the Seahawks could be an ideal landing spot for the former No. 1 pick. Newton showed last year that he can still perform in the NFL, both through the air and on the ground, and while there was certainly room for improvement, he could be a could bridge to the future at quarterback in Seattle.

3. Marcus Mariota

Another solid option for the Seahawks this offseason could be Marcus Mariota. While Mitchell Trubisky may be heralded as the most capable backup set to hit the open market, the Seahawks may not be too keen on meeting the reported $10 million he could earn this offseason. Mariota was a reliable backup to Derek Carr in Las Vegas last season and could use that to land himself in competition for the Seahawks' gig. Of course, it's difficult to imagine Mariota winning out the starting job beyond the 2022 season, but he could certainly provide some stability in the short term.

2. Drew Lock

It's wholly possible that the Seahawks acquired their replacement for Russell Wilson in the deal that saw him leave town. Lock doesn't have the best track record in the NFL, but he's a young quarterback who could find his footing playing under Pete Carroll. If Lock is to work out in Seattle, however, significant upgrades will be needed on the offensive line, as the 25-year-old has been known to struggle under pressure. Still, if Seattle doesn't want to roll the dice on a veteran or go with a young arm in the draft, they could very well give Lock a chance as the starter next season.

1. Malik Willis

The Seahawks are in a prime position to draft Malik Willis in the 2022 NFL Draft. The trade with the Denver Broncos saw the Seahawks shoot up to pick No. 9, after initially not owning their own first-round pick, as a result of the Jamal Adams trade with the New York Jets. Now, the Seahawks will pick in the top half of the first round, where they could elect to roll the dice on a young arm like Willis. The Liberty star has been heralded as the best quarterback in the draft thus far, and if the Seahawks are impressed with him throughout the draft process, he may hear his name called with the ninth selection, barring another team leapfrogging the Seahawks to snag him for themselves.
