The San Francisco 49ers, led by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, are set to take on the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship. Their playoff run began with a Wild Card Weekend win over the Dallas Cowboys. They then extended their season another week in their Divisional Round win over the Green Bay Packers.

Now, Garoppolo will attempt to lead his team to a win and a second Super Bowl appearance. He brought the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2020 but failed to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. The 30-year-old quarterback has two championship rings, but they are from his time as Tom Brady's backup quarterback for the New England Patriots.

Will the 49ers earn their first championship since 1995 under the leadership of Garoppolo? Here are my top four predictions for Jimmy G in the NFC Championship Game.

49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo NFC Championship Predictions

4. Most productive game of the playoffs

Towards the end of the regular season, Garoppolo was consistently putting up at least 300 passing yards and at least one passing touchdown. However, in the 49ers' two playoff games, he put up an average of only 152 yards per game and threw zero passing touchdowns. He also picked up one interception in each game.

That being said, Garoppolo will show his true potential on Sunday. He has the arm and the accuracy to throw short and long passes, he just had to get comfortable in the postseason. Expect at least 300 passing yards and at least one passing touchdown for Jimmy G Sunday night.

3. Minimal pressure

Fortunately for Garoppolo, he has a pretty solid offensive line in front of him. He has been sacked 29 times in 15 games, averaging almost two sacks a game. In the 49ers' first two playoff games this season, Garoppolo was sacked four times total.

While quarterbacks never want to be taken down in the backfield, this is a pretty good stat for this year's playoffs. Plain and simple, defense is elite this postseason. Of the other three quarterbacks standing, only one has been sacked fewer times than Garoppolo in the playoffs. Matthew Stafford was sacked three times, Patrick Mahomes was sacked five times and Joe Burrow was sacked 11 times (stats per StatMuse).

Expect the 49ers' offensive line to come up huge, and expect minimal sacks on Garoppolo Sunday night.

2. A rushing touchdown for Garoppolo

It's no secret that Jimmy G doesn't leave the backfield very often. He has only attempted it once this postseason, picking up one yard in the run. In the regular season, Garoppolo averaged only 3.4 rushing yards a game, but did manage to score three rushing touchdowns.

To win on Sunday, the 49ers must use any tricks they have, including surprise quarterback sneaks. Expect the unexpected, and expect a rushing touchdown from Garoppolo in the NFC Championship Game.

1. He'll prove them all wrong

Out of the four quarterbacks in the playoffs, Garoppolo is undoubtedly the most disrespected and underrated. Other 49ers players and head coach Kyle Shanahan even felt the need to defend his name ahead of the NFC Championship.

Expect Garoppolo to use this doubt to fuel his fire, win on Sunday, and punch his ticket to the Super Bowl.
