The Philadelphia Eagles will square off against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. Both teams stand at 3-2 on the season and have their sights set on being a contender in the NFC.

The Eagles are amidst a two-game winning streak after taking down the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets in Weeks 4 and 5. Philadelphia has been dealing with injuries on both sides of the ball but they've been able to overcome them for the most part.

Last week, the Eagles had their best game on the defensive side of the ball. The defense was able to combine for nine sacks and forced two interceptions. One of those interceptions was taken back by Nathan Gerry for a pick-six.

Albeit, that defensive performance came against a Jets squad that was starting Luke Falk under center. Nevertheless, it was positive for Doug Pederson to see his defense impose their will for a full 60-minutes.

Now, this week, Philadelphia will have the task of slowing down a more talented offense that is led by Dalvin Cook and the rushing attack. Kirk Cousins is capable of having productive games but he's been inconsistent to begin the season.

Considering that, here are four reasons why the Eagles will defeat the Vikings in Week 6.

4. The Eagles pass rush will be present

Prior to Week 5, the Eagles defense had troubles getting to the quarterback. As a matter of fact, Jim Schwartz's defense had just four sacks in the first four weeks of the season.

Then, the defense was able to find their groove in Week 5 against an abysmal offensive line of the Jets. They may have played a winless Jets team but that's a game where you can build some momentum on the defensive side of the ball.

Regardless of who they played, it is phenomenal when you can total nine sacks and have seven players record a sack in any given week. The Eagles will take their newfound momentum of rushing the passer into Sunday's game against the Vikings.

3. Jordan Howard has the hot hand

Over the past two weeks, Pederson has decided to run the ball more with the injuries at the wide receiver position. As a result, Jordan Howard has become a focal point of the offense and he's been solid.

In the Eagles' last two wins, Howard has rushed for 149 yards on 28 attempts (5.32 yards per attempt) and three touchdowns. With Philadelphia's talented offensive line, they've been able to seize control of the line of scrimmage in the past two weeks.

The Eagles will continue riding the hot hand in the backfield and Howard will have another notable outing in Week 6. It won't be easy running the ball though, with Minnesota having the ninth-ranked run defense in the NFL this season.

2. Wentz will protect the football

As the Eagles have begun to run the ball more, Wentz has been asked to throw the ball less. At the same time, Philadelphia's franchise quarterback has done a great job of avoiding mental mistakes.

After throwing two interceptions in Week 2, Wentz hasn't turned the ball over in the past three games for the Eagles. That has helped the team go 2-1 in that stretch and has put them in a position to take the lead in the NFC East.

Wentz will continue protecting the football against a stout Vikings defense that has had success forcing turnovers with Mike Zimmer as the head coach.

1. Eagles will make the Vikings one-dimensional on offense

The Vikings come into this game with a defense who has shown that they can stop an opponent's rushing attack. On the other hand, the Eagles actually boast the No. 1 run defense in the NFL this season.

There's no doubt that Minnesota wants to get Cook going on the ground to ease the pressure off of Cousins. But at the same time, Philadelphia has the personnel to contain the Vikings talented running back.

When facing the Vikings this season, you want to make Cousins beat you with his arm. This season, Minnesota is 3-1 when Cook rushes for over 100 yards. If Cousins has to throw the ball to win, the Eagles should be in a favorable position to win this game on Sunday.
