Florida tight end and top NFL Draft prospect Kyle Pitts is not expecting to go to the San Francisco 49ers with the third overall pick. But he also was not shy at expressing his excitement at the possibility to NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano.

Current Niners tight end George Kittle would gladly welcome Pitts into the fold, if he is indeed the surprise pick.

Kittle told NFL Network's Kay Adams on Wednesday he likes the idea of adding Pitts to the roster, saying it would give the 49ers options in spreading defenses out and ā€œrunning the ball down their throats.ā€

The All-Pro then mused he'd like to see Pitts go No. 1 overall to throw the whole draft for a loop:

Kittle gave some additional analysis of Pitts, lauding him as a guy who consistently makes big plays and finds the end zone.

Indeed, Pitts has rapidly ascended as the top pass-catching talent in Thursday's draft.

The Gators star ran a 4.44 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, an incredible mark for a guy with his size and strength. He flashed his big-play ability throughout the course of the 2020 season, averaging 17.9 yards per reception and racking up 12 touchdowns.

Pitts would give the 49ers options in running dual tight end sets. He is also capable of lining up out wide or in the slot.

Of course, the 49ers did not move up to No. 3 to select a tight end. They are in the market for a quarterback, and there have been plenty of rumblings about the future of Jimmy Garoppolo.Ā Kittle again addressed Garoppolo's future and backed the quarterback, but it sure feels like he's not long for San Francisco.

As for Pitts, it speaks volumes that he has really only continued to generate big buzz as the 49ers make their draft decision.
