San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo visited the grounds where he tore his ACL last September on Saturday night. At the Kansas City Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium, Garoppolo didn't let the past haunt him. That counts for both the ACL and his awful performance the game before.

Prior to playing in Kansas City, Garoppolo shrank against the Denver Broncos on Monday night. He posted a 0.0 passer rating, going 1-for-6 for no yards and an interception against the Broncos.

But, that's history, as he showed up against the Chiefs on Saturday. The quarterback went 14-for-20 for 188 yards and a score, recording a 116.25 passer rating.

Garoppolo thought he did well on the night, saying, per ESPN,

“I thought it was good. It was a lot different than last week. Once you get the first first down, you start to get into a rhythm. The run game was looking really good. I barely got touched. That makes everything a lot easier.”

Visiting the place where his season finished prematurely in 2018 and rebounding from a poor game before, Garoppolo saw Saturday night as a step in the right direction.

“All the hearsay and whatever noise is going to go on, you have to ignore it and just go play football,” Garoppolo said, per ESPN. “I thought it was a good step coming back here to K.C., where it all started. So, just get that out of the way. It's another step in the right direction.”

The game against the Chiefs will likely be his last of the preseason. He won't play in-game for the 49ers until September 8th, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Until then, he'll be taking those steps.
