The San Francisco 49ers suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football. They couldn't get things under control in the second half while Jimmy Garoppolo folded under pressure. However, on Christmas Eve, it appears general manager John Lynch made a big mistake.

According to Bleacher Report Gridiron, John Lynch liked a tweet that was dissing Jimmy Garoppolo. An angered 49ers fan made a joke about the team leaving Garoppolo in Nashville after his poor performance against the Titans.

Even so, Lynch took to Twitter as quickly as possible to clear the air. The 49ers GM claims he ā€œaccidentally and unknowingly Liked a Tweet.ā€ Chances are, Lynch was scrolling through the mentions and accidentally hit the like button just before backing out or closing the app. Regardless, it's wild to see a team's GM like a tweet dissing the starting quarterback.

Although John Lynch likely hit the like button on accident, the 49ers are on the verge of moving on from Jimmy Garoppolo. They'll likely keep him in the starting lineup until the team is eliminated. Trey Lance is set to become the starting quarterback in 2022 and the organization is hopeful they've found their franchise quarterback.

49ers fans can't wait to see what Trey Lance has to offer. However, he's young and extremely inexperienced. For now, Garoppolo will likely finish the year as the starting quarterback as San Francisco continues to fight for a spot in the playoffs. Unfortunately for the fans, they're not receiving their Christmas wish of Trey Lance being named the starter.
