The San Francisco 49ers have made a change to their coaching staff with their offseason having only just began. Just a week after being defeated by the Los Angeles Rams in the Conference Championship game, Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers added this intriguing former head coach to their staff, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Per Schefter, Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers are hiring former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn as their assistant head coach. Lynn has experience as both a head coach and an offensive coordinator.

Anthony Lynn has worked well with quarterbacks, such as Chargers' Justin Herbert, but has been known for producing some very effective rushing offenses during his time in the NFL. This seems like a great fit for Shanahan's 49ers, who may be in the process of making the transition from Jimmy Garoppolo to Trey Lance, who is a mobile quarterback.

Not only that, but the 49ers' rushing offense was already one of the best in the league, as they ranked seventh in the NFL in yards on the ground per game. What could they do with Lynn, a former running back himself, in the room?

It's not the most exciting hire, but there are reasons for 49ers fans to like the addition of Anthony Lynn to Kyle Shanahan's 49ers coaching staff.
