The San Francisco 49ers were able to win a nail-biter over the Arizona Cardinals to remain undefeated in the 2019 NFL season. Head coach Kyle Shanahan was pleased with what he saw from quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garoppolo threw for a career-high four touchdowns in the 28-25 victory over the Cardinals. Shanahan shared some heavy praise for his quarterback after the game, via Niners Nation:

“He played great today. I thought he played a hell of a game. His best game yet.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Shanahan's comments. This is the first time in Garoppolo's career that he managed to throw for at least four touchdowns and it could not have come at a better time with the Cardinals looking to make a comeback down the final stretch.

San Francisco's perfect start to the year has largely been attributed to the emergence of their formidable defense. Meanwhile, any success on offense had come from their elite rushing attack. Unfortunately, Garoppolo had struggled to find his rhythm after throwing just nine touchdowns and seven interceptions heading into Week 9.

Kyle Shanahan is hoping that this kind of performance is just what his quarterback needs to turn the corner for the second half of the season. There will continue to be situations where the defense allows points and Garroppolo must prove he is capable of taking over with his arm rather than relying on the run game.

They will be looking to keep their flawless start to the year going at home against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 10.
