The San Francisco 49ers came away with a 9-0 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday to improve to 6-0 on the season, but afterward, 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman was not in a great mood.

Why? Because of the field conditions at FedEx Field.

It wasn't the first time Sherman played on a rough surface in Washington, and he made note of that after the game.

“That’s as bad as I’ve seen,” Sherman said, according to Roman Stubbs of The Washington Post. “I’ve played in this stadium once before, in the playoffs, and it was pretty bad. That was the year RG III went down with a knee injury. The field was pretty awful. Mostly sand. It was like playing in a sand pit. Today was rain, and everything was going bad.”

Sherman was referencing the Seattle Seahawks' Wild Card Round playoff win over the Redskins back in January 2013, when Washington rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III suffered a knee injury that would ultimately damage his NFL career forever.

“I think any grass field with this kind of rain, a torrential downpour the whole game, it’s going to be a rough field,” Sherman said. “I know this field’s conditions have been pretty bad, but if it’s raining and it’s grass and dirt, it’s going to turn into mud.”

Sherman logged five tackles in the victory.

It was the latest statement game for San Francisco's defense, even if it was playing against an anemic Redskins offense.

The Niners will now head back home to host the Carolina Panthers next week in a game that Sherman and the 49ers hope will be a heck of a lot cleaner than what they just experienced.
