The San Francisco 49ers continue to bolster its roster even with just a week before the 2021 season, this time adding former Pro Bowler Josh Norman to its cornerback corps.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports first reported the agreement. While terms of the deal were not disclosed, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network shared that the veteran cornerback can earn up to $2.5 million in the deal.

Josh Norman spent the past season with the Buffalo Bills, playing in nine games where he started in three. Despite his limited playing time and opportunities, he recorded 24 combined tackles on top of one interception, four passes defended and two fumbles recovered.

He will be joining a 49ers CB group headlined by the likes of Emmanuel Moseley, Jason Verrett, Ambry Thomas and Dontae Johnson.

It remains to be seen if Norman will have more opportunities with the 49ers, but there is no doubt he is a quality addition that can pay off big time. While he's no longer the same Pro Bowler that used to dominate with the Carolina Panthers from 2012 to 2015, he can certainly still contribute at the right system–even at 33 years old.

The 49ers have high hopes in 2021 with Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo leading the way. However, their secondary will certainly need to step up as well as they try to get back to the Super Bowl after their remarkable run in 2019.
