San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle had a standout 2018 season and is now considered one of the best in the league. 49ers tight end coach John Embree saw a lot to be impressed with during last season but also sees a lot more that he can improve on before he reaches his ceiling.

“His footwork, getting in and out of breaks, certain routes that he really, in my mind, struggles getting in and out of his break to be clean with it,” Embree said via NBC Sports. “His weight, he has a tendency to lean back a little bit so just working on those things in certain routes to help him try to continue to take the next step.

Embree also knows that drops were an issue and that he is going to have to work hard to get on the same page with Jimmy Garoppolo.

“He left a lot on the field between drops and he and Jimmy [Garoppolo] not connecting. So yeah, he can do a lot more. He could do a lot more and not have the same numbers too.”

Opposing teams are also going to have all off-season to find some of Kittle's weaknesses and really try to attack them.

It's scary for the rest of the league that all these little things need to be worked on but Kittle was still able to catch 88 passes for 1,377 yards, and five touchdowns.

The expectations are just as high for Kittle this season, and with the little improvements hopefully, he can reach those numbers again.
